Meet Ginger, the newest addition to our family.
We brought her home from the county pound three weeks ago.
She's a lovable goofball who is strong willed and smart as a whip.
We love her to pieces.
Our two cats...
Not so much. They're scared of her high energy, even though she (mostly) just wants to play.
We keep them separated for now, but when we're not home, Ginger breaks out of her kennel. Every. Single. Time.
She even learned to twist open doorknobs!
Let me just say... this Cat Lady is getting a crash course in dog training!!!
The best part of my day is when I leave my room in the morning. Ginger is SO happy to see me! I tell ya: a dog is a great anti-depressant!
And of course, we love to heap praise on her.
"Good girl!" "You're so smart." "I love you!"
And when she does something naughty like break out of her kennel... well, it's hard to stay mad at her for long.
I heard someone say once that you should talk to yourself the way you talk to your dog. Now that I own a dog, I totally get it.
How's your inner monologue? Do you heap praise on yourself, or disdain? Are you quick to forgive yourself, or do you hold a grudge?
Talk to yourself with the same love and affection you give your dog.
Because you deserve it.
Are you a dog or a cat person?
