Did you know that almost HALF of business owners who struggle with burnout?
Are you one of them?
While many of us start our own businesses for the freedom and flexibility, all too often it can feel like a 24/7 thing.
After all, it’s always there.
It depends on you.
And even when you outsource certain tasks, there’s ALWAYS more to do.
You look around and wonder where all that promised freedom went…
If you’re not careful, it’s easy to burn out.
We often think of symptoms like fatigue. Difficulty thinking. Being unmotivated.
But burnout can manifest itself in MANY ways – some of them quite surprising.
A New York Times article called “Your Body Knows When You’re Burned Out” describes surprising physical symptoms like:
- Insomnia
- Change in eating habits
- Headaches and stomachaches
- Nausea
- Indigestion
- Farts (no, really!)
- Muscle aches
- And more
The best solution, obviously is to get to the root cause of the burnout and make fundamental changes to address the problems that caused it.
But sometimes those changes take time. Sometimes the problems aren't fully under your control. Sometimes you HAVE to buckle down and finish some projects to get them off your plate because there’s no one else who can do them.
What then?
Well, in the meantime, research shows that doing something you love for just 15-20 minutes can help you feel less burned out.
My best friend paints cacti in gorgeous watercolors.
One of my mentors tends her vegetable garden.
I read thrillers and YA supernatural novels.
What’s something YOU love (NOT business related) that you can do for 15-20 minutes a day?
