A lot of coaches I talk to say that their work in the world stems from their earlier experiences - the lessons they learned as they triumphed over struggles.
Mine is, too.
My mission is to help women stop their self-doubt and self-sabotage and know their worth so they have the confidence to go after their dreams. It
stems from my battle to restore my confidence, self-worth, and fundamental identity following 2-1/2 decades of abusive relationships.
I'm writing a memoir about my experiences, and I just got a round of developmental edits back from my editor.
Many people think writing the first draft is tough. But REWRITING and editing are the real hard part.
We have to cut entire scenes that, while they were important to ME, don't
necessarily serve the READER or move the story forward. But no scene stands on its own. Each one ties into other scenes in the book, supporting the continuous storyline with references back to it. They're very interconnected, like a spider web of stories.
So to delete scenes, I also have to pull out all the references to that scene. It sounds easy, but it's HARD. Because it often means restructuring those later scenes so they aren't dependent on the (now deleted) scenes
that came before it.
Why am I telling you this?
Because it's a direct parallel to the journey you go through as you rediscover your worth and build a solid foundation of confidence.
None of your life's experiences happened in a vacuum. Their effect on you influences many areas of your life going forward, sometimes in ways you don't even
notice. A supporting spiderweb on interconnectivity.
In making peace with your past, you'll find narratives, "lessons learned," and acquired beliefs that don't serve you any more.
And just like with my memoir, you're not ERASING your past, changing it, or pretending it never existed.
But part of the process is to realize where those spiderwebs go - to see how
your past affects your present and rewrite those narratives so they're not dependent on your past. Or go in the opposite direction: to see where you doubt and sabotage yourself in the present and trace those spiderwebs back to their root cause so you can disconnect them and release their hold on you.
Because, your past shapes you, but it doesn't define you.
That's not always easy, but it's SO, so worth it.
I'll end up with a much
more impactful book, and you'll end up with a much more impactful LIFE.
And just like I couldn't do this work without the help of my rockstar editor, because I'm too close to the story to see where it doesn't work, YOU need a coach like me to help you through the process of rewriting your story to be more confident.
Because it's much faster and easier when you have a guide - someone who's been through the process
and knows what it takes. Someone who's got enough distance from your life to see the patterns and connections.
And I'm here for you.
Let's do this!
