In 1776, a group of brave men signed the Declaration of Independence. Tired of tyranny and oppression, they penned these now-famous words:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

 I love that. We are endowed, by virtue of our being, with intrinsic worth - worth that cannot be taken away, no matter what happens to us.

That sort of declaration is powerful, no matter where you live. No matter your politics, no matter your past.

Your worth can be hidden by negative experiences in your life.

You can forget your worth.

You can fall prey to the Spiritual Identity Thieves which steal your self-worth, rob you of your confidence, and fundamentally change the way you see yourself.

Many of us do, at some point in time.

And I don't mean that you go around sulking and beaten down, with slumped shoulders and downcast eyes. Most of us hide our self-doubt much better than that.

I'm talking about those quiet moments when your past comes back to haunt you.

Those falling-asleep moments when your mistakes and failures rear their ugly heads and tell you that you'll never be Good Enough.

Those times when you fall short of your goals and dreams, and your Inner Mean Girl says, "See, I told you so."

I'd like to invite you to create your own Personal Declaration of Independence.

Declare freedom from self-doubt. Freedom from self-sabotage. Freedom from the chains of your past which still hold you captive.

You know the ones I'm talking about. The ones that taught you that you're Not Enough. The ones that taught you that you're not worthy. The ones that taught you that it's not okay to be yourself.

Then... listen closely, because this next part is CRUCIAL.

A declaration is only the STARTING point. Once you declare something, it doesn't magically appear. You must DO THE WORK TO MAKE IT SO.
