When we're little, we learn a lot about ourselves from the way people treat us.
We take on other people's
valuations of us, whether or not they're accurate.
Then for many of us, one journey of adulthood is unraveling those threads to rediscover our REAL worth.
That's the theme of
my memoir, Secondhand Worth. Like the hand-me-down clothes that filled my closet, my worth was passed on to me from other people.
My identity was shaped by a few highly influential people in my life whose actions implied that I was worthless and unlovable.
It was all lies.
When it comes to your self-worth, be careful who you listen to.
Thema Davis says, "Make sure you don't start seeing yourself through the eyes of those who don't value you. Know your worth, even if they don't."
, you are Worthy By Design.
Other people's actions and opinions don't change that.
