We also talked about what it looks like when you've lost yourself, and what it takes to
rediscover yourself again.
Here are a
few of the signs I mentioned on the show:
- You look at your life and wonder, "How did I get here?"
- "I never envisioned it being this way. I thought I was someone else."
- You have trouble making your own decisions and look to others for validation.
- You can't say where YOU want to go eat, because it's been so long since you went anywhere other than your kids' favorite fast food restaurant.
- You allow someone (family member, business mentor, etc) to change
what you would do, when it doesn't sit well with you, but you do it anyway.
- You're always searching for that "next big thing," but it doesn't fulfill you.
If any of that sounds familiar, you're not alone. This Spiritual Identity Theft, as I call it, affect SO many women, from all walks of life.
Whether you're a stay-at-home mom who's always doing everything for her kids and neglecting
her own needs...
a woman who's trying to be the "perfect daughter" your parents always wanted...
or an entrepreneur who's using a business model the gurus said is the best/only way to do it (though in your heart you'd rather do it some other way...)
If any of that sounds familiar, it's time
to re-evaluate. It's time to stop letting others define you and rediscover who you are so you can love yourself more.
