It's Day 10 of the 14 Days of Self-Love Celebration!

Do you wait for other people to make you happy, or you you love yourself enough to meet your own needs and desires?

Today's goodie is a blog post about creating your own happiness.

"No one will buy me a cake!"

A woman in a Facebook group for people with food allergies wrote 2 long paragraphs about how none of her family members cared enough to buy her a birthday cake that was safe for her to eat.They'd bought her grocery store cakes in the past, but she can't eat them. So, instead of trying to find an allergy-safe bakery, her family gave up.

Her birthday was the following week, and she was sad because no one would buy her a cake.

Everyone deserves to eat safely, free from fear of anaphylaxis or other allergic reactions. (My son is deathly allergic to peanuts, so I can totally empathize with this woman's frustration.)

And we all want to feel loved and appreciated - especially on birthdays.

But what struck me about the post was the woman's seeming helplessness.

She was less upset about her family and more upset that she wouldn't have cake.

As if she wasn't a grown-ass woman with her own money who could buy herself a cake. Or make one.

Instead of taking her happiness into her own hands, she was miserable waiting on other people to make her happy.

But guess what? That's not their job.
