When you were a little girl, you probably had very definite opinions about who you were and what you were going to be when you grew up.
I remember very clearly the man across the street telling me I would grow up to be a “nice, petite young lady.”
I glared at him with all the indignation my ten-year-old self could muster and snapped, “No I’m not! I’m going to be 6-feet-tall like my brother!”
Well, my 5’4” frame proves him right and me wrong on that point. But at the time, I was as sure of my prediction as I was certain the sun would rise in the morning.
Think back to a time in your life when you were that confident. When you didn’t care what anyone thought of you. When you wore six shades of purple that didn’t match simply because it was your favorite color. (Was that just me?
LOL!)
What happened to that little girl?
If I had to guess, peer pressure set in. Life knocked you down and broke your heart. All of a sudden, you started to doubt yourself.
You hid who you really were – or at least toned it down so you’d fit in better. You started to live by other people’s expectations of you rather than living true to yourself.
Other people started to define you.
Your past started to define you.
And you lost sight of who you were created to be.
Along the way, your light dimmed and your soul suffered.
Maybe not publicly.
But in private.
Maybe you put on a brave mask for others to see, to hide the doubt, the fear, the emptiness.
Maybe the success you’ve achieved in your life and business allow you to ignore it most of the time.
But in those quiet moments, those falling-asleep moments, there’s no denying it.
You’ve lost sight of who you are.
The real You is in hiding, and you desperately want her back.
Your soul is crying out to be expressed.
Be want to be You. Fully authentic. Fully alive.
You want a confidence that doesn’t waiver with your successes and failures. A confidence that doesn’t depend on other people’s opinions. A confidence that comes from knowing who you are and what you stand for. Knowing that you are enough. That you’re worthy by
design.
