I may be TOTALLY aging myself here, but I'll say it anyway...
One of my favorite movies growing up was Mr. Mom. In a nutshell, Jack Butler gets fired and stays home with the kids while his wife goes to work. He's gotta figure out how to Do. All. The. Things. And realizes that it's not as easy as it seems.
Most of the tactics of "The Jack Butler Method" simply don't work. He irons a grilled cheese sandwich to warm it up, and his kid is NOT impressed. He drops off the kids at school, running backwards through the line and getting yelled at the whole way. He THINKS his way will be easier, but it's actually much harder.

Most entrepreneurs approach ideal client attraction the same way.
They plow through the line backwards, creating resistance, resentment, and recurring headaches.
You see, most ideal client templates focus on outward metrics - age, income bracket, occupation. Some templates even have you define their hair color and the number of kids they have.
These metrics have their place, but it's not where you START. Because they say NOTHING about your clients' values and priorities, and whether you'll actually ENJOY working with them.
Starting with these outward metrics is like driving through the drop-off line backwards.
Jack Butler knew he was doing SOMETHING wrong. The blaring horns and angry glares told him so. (Just like your frustration, waning enthusiasm, and impending burnout warn you.)
But until the crossing guard told him how to do it PROPERLY, he didn't know how to fix it.
