So...
The first 7 days of January have been... interesting, to say the least.
What words would you use to describe the year so far?
And more importantly, what words describe the 2021 you want to see?
We can't control outside events - elections or riots or pandemics, for instance.
And we often feel a lack of authenticity and confidence when we try to live up to others' expectations of us in the face of these events.
But we can control our inner world. Our perceptions and attitudes. The way we show up in our personal and professional lives.
Many people take Jan 1st as a catalyst to make sweeping changes in their lives - aka, resolutions.
Most people ALSO give up on their resolutions within a few short weeks.
Why?
For one, they're limiting. Say you set a goal to do 50 push ups every single day. Does that mean the bench press at the gym doesn't count? What if you get sick or hurt your shoulder and you physically CAN'T do push ups for a while? Does that mean you fail?
No, , as I'm sure you know by now, resolutions are out. THEME WORDS are in.
Theme words are expansive. Malleable and full of possibility. You can express yourself into a theme rather than be defined by it.
My word for 2021 is GROWTH.
Sure, I have specific business goals related to growing my email list and increasing my income.
I have personal goals related to my health and family.
But, let's face it. No one knows what next WEEK will look like, let alone the rest of the year. 2021 is still loading.
GROWTH is something I can strive toward no matter what turns our crazy world takes. Better yet, *I* get to define what growth looks like. I'm sure my vision of growth at the end of the year will be different from what it is right now. That's OK. It's still growth.
What's your theme word for 2021? How do you want to shape your year? How do you want to show up and be yourself in your life and business? Hit "reply" to this email and let me know. I'd love to hear from you!
*YOU* get to define your success when you have a theme word. You can shape it and adapt it as needed. It's your compass point, your guiding star. Even if you wander off course for a bit, you haven't failed. Point yourself back toward your focus and keep moving.
And through it all, be confident. And be YOU.
