No doubt you've heard the phrase "It's more blessed to give than to receive." And while there's tremendous wisdom in that saying, let me ask you this...
What if you wanted to give, but the other person wasn't ready (or willing) to receive?
Could you give to them? Of course not. And they'd probably hurt your feelings when they rejected your gift.
In order for there to be a giver, there must be a receiver.
And I can bet dollars to doughnuts that you're a pretty good giver.
The REAL question, , is are you willing to receive?
And if not, what holds you back?
For most people, it's a lack of confidence - the false belief that you're not WORTHY of the gift, that you don't DESERVE the kindness.
This past weekend, one of my best friends gifted me with a 2-night hotel stay so my kids and I could get out of town and take a break from the hustle and grind that had us all at a breaking point. And as an extra bonus, the hotel was in HER town, so we got a hang out together a lot. (Sweet!)
When Kim suggested it, I almost said no. The fiercely independent, I-can-take-care-of-myself martyr inside me WANTED to say no.
You wanna know what went through my head? "You shouldn't spend your hard-earned hotel points on me."
Translation: I'm not worth it.
But here's the thing: Kim wouldn't have offered if she didn't want to. If she wasn't willing to give. So I chose to receive, humbly and gratefully.
The visit did both of us SO much good! It was great for my kids, too, who got a few days off school, some time in nature, and LOTS of swim time.
It was JUST what I needed to recharge and come back ready to roll. But NONE of that would have happened without the generous offer of a dear friend, and if I wasn't willing to receive it.
Where are YOU hesitant to receive?
Do you resist help? Compliments? Money? Love? Satisfaction? Success?
If so, I invite you to look at your sense of Worth. How WORTHY do you feel of receiving these things? What blocks your willingness? What false beliefs get in the way? What LIES do you tell yourself, and where did they come from?
If you have trouble receiving, there's NO DOUBT this affects your business growth, too!
