Yesterday, I was watching my daughter talk with one of her friends. They sat at the table, huddled together, deep in important teen conversation. Every once in a while, they'd erupt with wild laughter, then go right back into their intense talk.
It dawned on me how grown up she is. That next year, she'll be in high school. Eek!
My time to shape and influence her (while she lives under my roof) is quickly coming to an end. I hope I've done "enough" as her mother to prepare her for the future she faces.
The little girl who twirled around in the grocery store wearing a princess dress is a distant memory, replaced by a mature, lovely young women. The dreams and goals I had for her have been replaced (and rightly so) with the dreams and goals she has for herself. And it all happened so fast - or so it seemed.
This YEAR has progressed at the same lightening speed. It seems like I blinked, and half the year has gone by - and then some!
Do you feel the same way?
Do you look back at those big goals you set in January and realize you're not as far along as you'd hoped?
Or you meant to do this, that, and the other thing in your biz, but you didn't know how to get started, so now you're panicking that it's never going to happen this year?
It's enough to tank your confidence, if you let it.
But here's the thing: You can beat yourself up for it. You can let this be one more year where you feel like you're spinning your wheels, working too hard without enough to show for it.
OR, you can do something about it.
